This unique event convenes policy makers, regulators, regulatory affairs professionals and investors from around the world to discuss and debate the latest developments in sustainable finance policy reform in key capital markets.

09:10-09:30 The global baseline for RI policy and regulation: Interview of Emmanuel Faber
 
This session will offer the floor to Emmanuel Faber, Chair of the ISSB. Key questions addressed include the uptake of the global disclosure standards, how can regulators ensure global policy alignment, and the role of investors to support common rules across jurisdictions.

09:30-10:30 Reviewing financial regulatory roles and mandates in a world with governmental sustainability goals. What are the foundational policy reforms policy makers should consider to support responsible investors to navigate the transition? Launch of PRI’s Policy toolkit on sustainable finance policy reform.

This session will kick off with a brief presentation of PRI’s updated policy toolkit which discusses the paradigm shift needed to move from managing risk exposure to also supporting the economic transition. This will be followed by a panel discussion with policy makers from around the world looking at how their mandates impact their ability to effectively pursue the economic transition and reflecting on the key policy priorities set out in the updated toolkit.

10:50-11:40 The place of regulation – best practices and challenges of policymaking in a global market. Investor dialogue on key policy reforms and what policy makers can do to increase policy effectiveness to create an enabling environment for responsible investment.

In this session, investors and the audience take the lead. A panel of four PRI signatories will share what they see as the biggest successes and key concerns in sustainable finance policy. The audience will be encouraged to reflect and share their own thoughts with the panel for each topic raised. This solutions-focussed session should provide food for thought for both policy makers and investors in the room.

In a year dominated by elections across the globe, this final panel confronts a critical question – how can we secure ongoing support and progress for responsible investment policies to ensure investors have certainty and security? A variety of policy makers will share their thoughts, looking at key topics such as the just transition, a whole-of government approach and strategic communication.
